Our Tools

OUR TOOLS

Copia has developed a world class proprietary toolkit to underpin all DFM investment management activities. Our toolkit comprises four universal capabilities required for designing and managing successful, industry leading portfolios:

Optimisation Tool

Copia’s investment optimisation tool examines the expected risk-return metrics for different asset classes and their correlations, in order to create optimised portfolio weightings for a given portfolio objective. This is subject to certain parameter constraints.

Risk Barometer

This unique tool is available only to Copia’s clients. It takes the predictive output from our Quant model ensuring that all tactical asset allocation decisions are driven by a sound quantitative process, reducing manager risk and behavioural biases.

Quant Model

Designed by investment experts, Copia’s proprietary Quant Model scans hundreds of market and economic variables to estimate the expected risk and return for different asset classes. Our team uses this output to help inform client decision making, because evidence clearly supports the view that there is a mathematical relationship between market and economic variables and asset class risk-return expectations. Copia uses the outputs of the Quant Model to form our unique Risk Barometer.  Each week, the Copia Risk Barometer score is published for all clients, displaying our overall risk score for the market and giving client’s rigorous assurances about the likely performance of their portfolios.

Fund Screener

Selecting the right funds for a client portfolio is a real minefield if you don’t have access to professional screening tools. There are currently over 1,900 ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) available on the London Stock Exchange. How do you evaluate them objectively? Copia’s Fund Screener does it for you, filtering out the ones with the right criteria to qualify for inclusion in our portfolios. Our investment advisers apply a quantitative screening process that checks ETFs for liquidity, cost efficiency (TER and spreads), adequate asset size, replication strategy, currency and consistency of performance relative to the underlying index.

Understanding the risks

This information is intended for professional financial advisers only. Copia does not provide financial advice. This information is not intended as financial advice and should not be interpreted as such. Model investment portfolios may not be suitable for everyone. The value of funds can increase and decrease, past performance and historical data cannot guarantee future success. Investors may get back less than they originally invested.
