CIPs in 2026: Tuning the Engine for Growth

CIPs in 2026: Tuning the Engine for Growth

Our latest research report exploring how advisers are evolving their Centralised Investment Propositions (CIPs).

What’s this research about?

Here at Copia Capital, we know just how important Centralised Investment Propositions (CIPs) have become to firms. Now CIPs are so widespread and deeply embedded, how they function and perform inevitably has a major impact on client outcomes.

With this in mind, we’ve teamed up with the lang cat again to explore CIP usage and management in more detail.

For this paper, the lang cat conducted in-depth qualitative and quantitative research with 182 advice professionals to understand:

  • How much is invested in CIPs?
  • What governance processes have been put it place?
  • How many MPS providers firms are using?
  • What is causing firms the biggest headache when managing their CIP?
  • How CIPs have evolved and what do advisers think comes next?

Five of the key findings:

  1. 63% of firms now mostly use outsourced MPS, up from 28% in 2022.
  2. Nearly a quarter of firms with £500mn – £999mn AUM are using tailored bespoke DFM services.
  3. Investment committees are responsible for selecting the MPS provider for 51% of firms.
  4. The majority of firms are now using two or more MPS providers.
  5. In 10 years time, 52% of firms expect to be using bespoke DFM services to help some or most of their clients.
